Catalogue fall 2023

We proudly present our latest catalogue, spring 2023! Including all our new and upcoming books on architecture, art and design.

As Lesley Lokko, curator of the Venice Architecture Biennale 2023 states, 'It is impossible to build a better world if one cannot first imagine it.' Imagining, by visual means (art, design) or in words (stories, debate, positioning and research) is always at the heart of our publications programme, just as it is in this fall catalogue. From a publication highlighting ways to make nature part of building practices in Building Urban Nature to a beautiful concluding double issue of the Writingplace project, on narrative strategies for spatial design practices. From a call to liberate cartography from the dictates of borders and territories in Free the Map to an examination of the transformative power of informal urban structures in In/formal Marketplaces

Imagining a better world also means a better representation of that world. With the Documents and Histories series, nai010 aims to fill in the blind spots in its own backlist and make a multiplicity of voices and perspectives integral to its publishing practice. After the first publication of this series, Women in Architecture, we now present Erica Smeets-Klokgieters' research into the Netherlands' very first female architects. By sharing these stories, a more divers and complete historiography comes into view. And with that, the building of a better world.
