Rebuild by Design: A Transformative Approach to Climate Change

€ 29,95 order pre-order

> Climate change is a simultaneous threat to our planet and to our neighborhoods. President Obama understood we needed to fight climate change at both scales at once, and Rebuild by Design did just that. With this book, communities across the globe can learn how to make their neighborhoods safer and stronger and governments can learn how to lead by example. - Shaun Donovan, Former Secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and Chair of the Hurricane Sandy Rebuilding Task Force
> All over the world, I see opportunities for the Dutch to make a difference. The Netherlands is a “living lab", everything distinctive we do here improves our position in the world. And I keep telling the story about the value and importance of good water management wherever I go. – Henk Ovink
> A guide for to politicians, designers, change managers, community leaders, researchers, activists and others
> Listen to Henk Ovink on Sourcing Matter episode 4

Rebuild by Design (RBD) was developed for the ‘Presidential Hurricane Sandy Rebuilding Task Force’ after hurricane Sandy hit the North-East Coast of the United States in October-November, 2012. Using an innovative, designdriven process based on the design competition model, Rebuild by Design places local communities and civic leaders at the heart of a robust, interdisciplinary creative process to generate implementable solutions for a more resilient region. This book aims not so much to illustrate what Rebuild by Design did, but to reflect on it, assess it in all its aspects and embed it in a broader context to offer a guide for to politicians, designers, change managers, community leaders, researchers, activists and others, offering future approaches wherever climate-change induced, water-related urban challenges arise.
