The book (dutch only) Een huis genaamd Marseille takes the reader through 350 years of Amsterdam History through stories of former residents of the buildings of Huis Marseille, Museum for Photography. Viviane Sassen created a number of new installations specially for Huis Marseille, including one based on the residential history of this Amsterdam canal-side house.
Chantal Akerman (Belgium, 1950-2015) was one of the first film directors to switch to the visual arts, in the mid-1990s. The transition would mark the start of a second – parallel – career. The exhibition features eight of Akerman’s film installations. In addition to D’Est, they include a.o. Woman Sitting after a Killing (2001), Tombée de nuit sur Shanghai (2007-2008) and her final work NOW (2015).
Berlin – where it all began. MVRDV presents its German oeuvre in an exhibition especially designed for the Architektur Galerie Berlin, MVRDV Haus Berlin, which is partly conceived as a 'working office' and thus provides an insight into past and current projects. For this purpose, the exhibits will be shown in a monochrome orange ambiance in the style of MVRDV House Rotterdam.
After graduating from the Universität der Künste Berlin, Philipp Fürhofer spent months in hospital with heart issues, culminating in a partial transplant. Inspired by his own chest X-rays and their transparency, he created acrylic glass boxes filled with structured objects, giving them new forms and reality. The book (Dis)Illusions is a beautiful overview of the work of this multidisciplinary artist.
Solo Show Philipp Fürhofer at Galerie Sabine Knust. Fürhofers work is also on show at Kunsthalle Munich where he designed two rooms for Thierry Mugler, Couturissime.
