On the 24th of February, we gathered at the Keilepand in Rotterdam for the book launch of The Architecture of Housing Co-ops. The panel consisted of Marieke Kums, author of the book, and housing co-op specialists Floris Schiferli, Bernard Smits and Clemens Mol. Arie Lengkeek, author of operatie wooncoöperatie, moderated the evening.
The Architecture of Housing Co-ops showcases Marieke Kums and Carolin Koopmann’s research into an emerging, unique housing model. Using 15 examples of successful, completed housing cooperatives in both the Netherlands and Germany, this book demonstrates the possibilities of collaborative ownership and cohabitation.
The room was packed, and many interesting questions were asked. The audience’s engagement and the diverse perspectives brought by both the panel and the crowd made it a particularly successful evening.
