The Architecture of Housing Co-ops: 15 Case Studies in DE + NL

While housing cooperatives have been a well-known concept in Germany for some time, this special form of housing has only emerged in the Netherlands in the last few years. In The Architecture of Housing Co-ops, famous examples of both countries are compared to each other. Through detailed analyses, project documentations, floor plans, and interviews with designers and residents, architects Marieke Kums and Carolin Koopmann analyse the recent developments in cooperative living.

On February 24th, The Architecture of Housing Co-ops will be presented by Marieke Kums in the Keilepand in Rotterdam. Arie Lengkeek (author of operatie wooncoöperatie) will moderate a conversation in which various architects, specialists and members of housing cooperatives provide feedback on the book, including:

• Floris Schiferli (SuperuseStudio, W1555-Rotterdam and Boschgaard-Den Bosch)
• Bernard Smits (woningbouwvereniging Gelderland and Iewan Nijmegen)
• Clemens Mol (Handboek Wooncoöperaties and advisor Gemeente Rotterdam)

Of course, everyone in the audience is invited to participate in the discussion. Just like within the housing cooperative, everyone in the audience will have the opportunity to actively participate this evening.
