STAD O5O presents a thousand years of Groningen’s history in a graphic novel for a new generation of Groningen residents. Stad O5O graphic novel combines history and imagination in a multi-layered story about a unique city in the north of the Netherlands. From medieval merchants and city walls to student life, social changes, and the challenges of today. In this way, it highlights the events and developments that have shaped the city of Groningen over the centuries.
The story of STAD O5O was written by Auke Hulst. Martin Hillenga provided historical texts and advised on the city’s history. Twenty-one illustrators, two photographers and four poets contributed to the book, alongside young people from across Groningen who also played their part.
