It’s About Time – Backcasting as useful tool to imagine and build transformative futures

Based on the recently published book It’s About Time. The Architecture of Climate Change professor of socio-economic transitions Derk Loorbach will discuss the practice of backcasting as a method for systematic change in our society.  By imagining a future that has sucessfully managed the problems of the present, we can start thinking about the desired transitions to get to that point.

With real-life examples from the past and the present Loorbach and other practioners will show how backasting is not only a tool for architectural design, but can also be used for ecological transition, governance strategies and artistic practices. How can we use our imagination to build a radical transformative future?
