After an introduction to the urban development plan of the Sphinxkwartier by Peter de Ronde, we walked from Bureau Europa along the Sphinx to the first stop: the Twins, where the colours of the factory have been continued in the homes using clinkers from Maastricht. In the green inner courtyard, architects Marlies Rohmer and Floris Hund explained how the project came about. At Les Mouleurs, we saw how local residents are greening the petrified streets together in order to improve the quality of life, while architect Rik Martens gave us an exclusive inside look at the inner garden of the complex.
At each location, photographer Rubén Dario Kleimeer showed how he went about shooting the perfect picture for the yearbook. From endlessly cycling around the neighbourhood to climbing a container for that one perspective. Through his eyes, we saw the different layers of the Sphinx Quarter and the challenge of capturing an entire neighbourhood in just one image.
Would you also like to see one of the yearbook projects with your own eyes? On Friday 6 October, we will head out together to Oostenburg in Amsterdam. Be quick to sign up (via rsvp@nai010.com), there are only a few spots left! The spoken language during the tour is Dutch!
In collaboration with Rubén Dario Kleimeer & Annuska Pronkhorst & with support of the Stimuleringsfonds Creatieve Industrie.
