Hyperlink: Acid Clouds (Waag Futurelab)

During the festival Hyperlink you can see the exhibition Acid Clouds. In the project, Niels Schrader and photographer Roel Backaert explore what our internet physically looks like now, with a photo series of data centres in the Netherlands, and portraits of the founding fathers of our internet. Judith Veenkamp (Waag Futurelab) and Niels Schrader discuss the physical characteristics of the internet and what we would like it to look like.

The book Acid Clouds: Mapping Data Center Topologies (2024) explores the hidden infrastructures of our digital lives and reveals the political, ecological, and social dynamics embodied by data centers.
